A Word from the Trustees

We would like to thank all our customers who have supported us loyally over the years.  We would also add our thanks to all the volunteer helpers, without whom we could not function.  Added to that are all the “friends” of New Creation who have encouraged us and prayed for us. Finally we must thank our Lord Jesus in whose name and for whose glory the shop is run.

About Us

Lighthouse Christian Books and Café is a registered charity, which means no one “owns” it, but there is a board of trustees who oversee the running of the charity. Most of the staff are volunteers who give of their time freely to serve.  There are usually two paid members of staff, Penny, the shop manager and her assistant.  It was started by a group of Christians from Tiverton and the surrounding area and most of the staff are Christians.

For more information see the History page - click here.

The charity was set up to fulfil three aims:-

Basis of Faith

to provide Christian resources, books, greeting cards, tapes (now CDs) for the people of mid-Devon, and to sell crafts from developing nations, bought from companies that pay their workers a fair wage.

to provide a place where Christians in the area could work together.  The world sees each church working on its own.  Here was an opportunity for Christians from many different churches and denominations to come together to serve the local community.

it was set up as an outreach, to offer people who are not Christians somewhere they could go to find out about the Christian faith.  The intention was not to push Christianity onto anyone but to be there if people have serious questions.
