Ligthouse Newsletter Number 17 - December, 2022 and January, 2023
As you can see from the date at the top of this newsletter, it is for the two months either side of the New Year. So can we take this opportunity to pray that each and every one of you receive a blessing this Christmas and may the Spirit remain with you throughout the New Year giving you a heart full of joy and thankfulness.
Christmas is nearly here
Just a reminder that, at the time of writing, we still had Christmas cards, calendars and gifts in stock. But as one of the supermarkets reminds us – when it’s gone, it’s gone! So don’t leave it to late to pop into the shop, and why not have a hot drink while you are there to warm you up, especially as the weather gets colder.
For many people, Christmas is a time for parties, presents, and eating and drinking to excess. Some will tell you it is a time for children, to overindulge them with expensive gifts. But we know that Christmas is a time to remember the greatest gift that God could give us, himself.
Coming as a tiny, helpless baby; giving up His glory and splendour and knowing it will end on a Roman cross. Such love. As John wrote in chapter 3, verse 16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. That is the real meaning of Christmas. We need to tell people about that sacrificial love, that gave everything that we might enjoy eternal life with Him.
Everyone loves a story about a tiny baby, especial if the birth takes place under difficult circumstance. Tell people about that Baby in Bethlehem, and how he grow up to die for us. Some people will politely ignore you, some will think your are gullible to believe such rubbish, some will just think you are mad. That is not your problem, Your job is to tell them, leave the rest to the Holy Spirit, that’s His job.
Thank you for your continued support and may God bless you this Christmas and through the New Year.
