Major Change to Shop Opening Hours

Shop to close on Mondays

It is with great regret that the trustees have taken the decision to close the shop one day a week.  This means that from, and including, 31st January the shop will be closed all day on Mondays.  This has been caused by the problem of replacing Grace after she left last year.

Penny was employed to work 4 days a week, with the occasional Saturday morning, but for the last 6 months she has been working 5 days a week.  We, as trustees, feel that Penny needs a day off each week for herself and, having failed to fill the vacant post, have taken the decision to allow Penny to return to her 4 day week.  Hopefully, this will be a temporary situation and we will soon be able to return to our usual 5½ days opening.

Vacancy for a “Cook”

We are still trying to employ an additional part-time member of staff to look after the café side of the business.  The main duties will be baking cakes and tray bakes to a consistent and uniform standard, cooking soups and quiches for lunch time and preparing other items on the menu.

This is a part-time paid job, and you will be working alongside volunteers who will help with the serving and clearing up.  We would be prepared to split the post between two people, if practicable.

We are also looking for a couple more volunteers to join the team, either to work on the till or in the café (training will be given).  Ideally, we are looking for people who can be flexible and cover for sickness and holidays.

If you would like more information about either the cook’s post or volunteering, please contact Penny who can explain what is required.  Or pop into the shop for a chat, but preferably not late morning into lunchtime as this is our busy period.
